King Street Bar Restaurant
The brief set out was to develop a design that would not only regenerate a previously striving bar, but also bring this building up to current DDA standards. The existing building is a Cat B Listed building so from the outset there was the understanding that what ever development was put forward, it would have to address the existing building, maintain the street hierarchy and touch the building as lightly as possible.
As stated, the existing building is currently not accessible via a wheelchair. The current proposal would include the installation of a stair lift/platform to get up to ground level which is actually 1.2m at its highest point form the street.
The general use for the extension is to provide further sitting area for the bar in a lighter environment, and create a better flow to the existing layout by opening up a window section.
