NHS Ayrshire and Arran, Woodland View, Ayrshire Central Hospital, Irvine

Core Associates was originally involved in this project in a Design Management roll for the Frameworks Scotland RDH team. We were commissioned in conjunction with Buchan & Associates as healthcare planners to produce a reference design and RIBA Work Stage 2 Report for NHS Ayrshire and Arran. This was to support their OBC submission to Scottish Government.

We were responsible for steering stakeholders from the various patient pathways through the brief development, establishing design principles and concept design development.

Following the completion of the Reference Design for the proposed North Ayrshire Community Hospital, Core Associates worked with the Balfour Beatty team on the successful NPD bid for the new hospital. The team was successful in the submission to build the circa £50m project, which provides 206 inpatient bedrooms, to support a wide range of MH needs. Patient facilities include elderly wards for long term care, rehabilitation and those suffering from Dementia. The mental health services provided include a forensic and intensive psychiatric care unit, CAMHS, an alcohol and drug addictions unit and rehabilitative care.
