Having grown up in Killearn, Colin left Balfron High School in 2006 and went to Dundee University to study architecture where he graduated with a Masters in 2012. He has worked for Walker & Pride in St Andrews and then RMJM in Edinburgh and Glasgow where he had the opportunity to work on the Glasgow Commonwealth Games. He likes to spend much of his time outdoors when given the opportunity but likes to have a full social calendar when given the opportunity as well.

What do you most like to do when you are not working?

Spending time out on Loch Lomond trying to learn to sail or honing my skills in the kitchen

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

Enjoy your work, if you’re not enjoying it, you are doing the wrong thing!

What’s one of your favourite memories?

While on a school exchange in Kiev, Ukraine I visited a circus and got picked out of a crowd of 1000 people to try and do a backflip! I said yes because the only words I knew were Tak (Yes) and Pivo (Beer)

What’s one thing about you that surprises people?

I am actually not a bad chef! Self-taught from basically watching Masterchef and Kitchen Nightmares

If you had a time machine, what advice would you give your 18-year-old self?

How to say no in Ukrainian!

What makes you really happy?

Being out in the open air, up the hills or on the loch.  Life seems so stress-free in these places… other than the midges.

What’s your guilty pleasure?

Watching ‘Friends’ for the hundredth time!

What are you most grateful for?

Living where I do.  30 minutes from Glasgow and 15 minutes from Loch Lomond.
