Stirling Community Hospital Outline Business Case
Core Associates were appointed to assist Forth Valley Health Board (FVHB) with their Outline Business Case for a Community Hospital on the existing Stirling Royal Infirmary Site.
The Stirling Community Hospital is predominantly refurbishment with some new build accommodation. The services that are to be provided are mainly outpatients including the main ophthalmology facility for the Forth Valley area, children’s OP services, a small mental health outpatients facility. In addition the hospital will also accommodate 60 inpatient beds, training and education facilities and accommodation for three GP practices. As with the Falkirk Community Hospital this redevelopment will allow an area of land to be disposed off.
Strategic Briefing, Phasing Strategy and Site Analysis
Our role on the Stirling Community Hospital OBC included the developed ADB schedules of accommodation and associated functional content together with a review of the existing buildings to establish any accommodation that may be suitable for reuse. Our role also included a review of the site, existing documentation together with diagrammatic review of the phasing strategy.
Following the conclusion of the initial agreement, a number of options were reviewed, the scope ranging from do minimum to a full new build. Through the option review process the functionality of the existing buildings was further ‘tested’ for suitability and in particular, the ward accommodation and the nursing configuration.
