53 Virginia Street, Glasgow
Core Associates were initially commissioned by our client to carry out a feasibility study to provide DDA compliant access together with an additional fire escape stair for the property at 53 Virginia Street, Glasgow; commonly known as The Jacobean Building.
Virginia Street enjoys a very central location within the city and is a short walk from three major railway stations. It is however notably quieter than the surrounding streets and is certainly not used to its full potential.
With such close proximity to transport links and other major pedestrian routes, there are opportunities to improve the public realm within the area; encouraging flow along Wilson Street from the Merchant City, and more importantly on the north/south axis between Queen street/George Square to Argyle Street.
