Julija is a vibrant ‘breath of fresh air’ in our Practice. She is an Architectural Assistant in Core Associates and comes from Latvia. Julija moved to Scotland 5 years ago to study architecture and is currently doing a masters degree at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow.

What do you most like to do when you are not working?

I visit the gym and do outdoor sport activities; I like doing yoga and stretching at home! I often do acrylic painting and lots of illustrations in photoshop as my hobby, and I like learning new software by watching online tutorials in my spare time.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

No matter how difficult or impossible something seems to you, but if you try and actually do that, then everything will definitely work for you in a good way! The main thing is not to give up.

What’s one of your favourite memories?

It made me think about my family and how I spend time with them during the holiday in my hometown.

What’s one thing about you that surprises people?

I have an identical twin sister

If you had a time machine, what advice would you give your 18-year-old self?

Not to apply for university in Latvia, but straight to Scotland to study architecture not to lose extra years of studying.

What makes you really happy?

To be with my family together; spend time with my twin sister; ; to know that my grandparents are healthy; when I have bad life moments I am not alone and supported my friends/family.

What’s your guilty pleasure?

- I enjoy watching Netflix series all day; I can order takeaway instead of actual cooking; I often eats too many sweeties per day

What are you most grateful for?

I mostly grateful to my parents that they raised me. Also I am grateful for everything I have in general.
