Botanic Garage Hotel

Botanic Garage Hotel, Vinicombe St, Glasgow

The Botanic Gardens Garage is located just off Byres Road on Vinicombe Street running parallel to Great Western Road in the West End of Glasgow. It occupies an L shaped site with a front (south facing) elevation to Vinicombe Street and a (west) side gable elevation to Vinicombe Lane. Although the building was in use as a garage for many years it has been vacant since 2006.

 

Core Associates as a practice have a particular interest in the re-use of existing buildings and have carried out a number of appraisals for clients where there has been a focus on a value added approach to re-use and often where there are extraordinary constraints on the redevelopment potential.

 

Recent Planning Application History

 

The last submitted application for listed building consent was for the partial demolition of the listed building and for internal and external alterations to accommodate mixed residential, office, retail and restaurant development. The principal elements of the proposed scheme retains some internal and external parts of the existing rear building along with the front elevation to Vinicombe Street.

 

Proposals were drawn up for 4 floors of residential accommodation, containing 20 flats, with car parking at basement level, to be situated behind the Vinicombe Street frontage.
